Alexis Moline: Curator-in-Residence, Building Cultural Legacies
School of the Arts welcomes McMaster Art History graduate Alexis Moline, who will be giving a series of presentations in the AH4x03 seminar Introduction to Galleries and Museums.
Alexis is currently curator-in-residence with the Art Gallery of Hamilton’s program Building Cultural Legacies. The exhibition, titled Art in Hamilton 1950-2000, runs to May 18, 2020, and features works by local artists Jim Chambers, Roger Ferreira, Conrad Furey, Cees & Annerie van Gemerden, Catherine Gibbon, Hortense Gordon, V. Jane Gordon, Elizabeth Holbrook, Donna Ibing, Bryce Kanbara, Peter Karuna, P. Mansaram and George Wallace, along with archival materials from Hamilton’s art history.

⧫ Film screening: Leon ‘Eklipz’ Robinson (26 mins), 6:30-7:30pm.
Television journalist and documentary reporter Jojo Chintoh interviewed four Black artists in Hamilton for the Building Cultural Legacies project. His longform interview with graffiti and multidisciplinary artist Leon ‘Eklipz’ Robinson will be screened, followed by a conversation between himself and emerging Hamilton artist and activist Sahra Soudi on the issue of representation and community building in the city.
⧫ Workshop: Storytelling and Zine Making, 7:30-9pm
Jojo Chintoh and Sahra Soudi will lead a workshop combining their skills in storytelling and zine making. Sharing their insights and experiences within Hamilton, Chintoh and Soudi will engage with participants in critical questions while activating the personal and political medium of zines.
