Fall Major Production: carried away on the crest of a wave
The production of carried away on the crest of a wave is a powerful play by award-winning Canadian playwright David Yee that gives us a glimpse into the impact the 2004 Earthquake in the Indian Ocean had on people’s lives. Directed by Dr. Peter Cockett and performed by students of McMaster University, with assistance from the THTRFLM 3SO6 class, this play takes place from the shores of Ko Phi Phi in Thailand to the streets of Toronto, where an orphaned boy, a scientist, and a grieving father are connected by the earthquake. Exploring notions of human empathy in times of tragedy, themes of tragedy, grief, and hope emerge from each story.
