Committed to bringing classical music to twenty-first century audiences through innovative programming and engaging presentations, the CHENG² DUO (pronounced Cheng Squared Duo) has been making music together for the past 13 years.  Named one of CBC Music’s 105 “30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30”, this sibling duo comprises of: cellist BRYAN CHENG, guest soloist with numerous orchestras since his debut at age 10 with I Musici de Montreal, and prizewinner of several national music competitions, and pianist SILVIE CHENG, recent Master’s Degree graduate of Manhattan School of Music and recipient of the Rubinstein Award for “exceptional promise in piano performance”.  The Cheng² Duo has quickly become an audience favourite wherever they perform, their wide-ranging repertoire bringing them to present concerts on three continents: North America (Canada, America), Europe (Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Holland, Italy), and Asia (China, South Korea).  They have established a reputation for being invited for return engagements at prestigious venues and festivals, including Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, the Festival of Sound, Vermont’s Pro-Concert Series, and Ottawa Chamberfest.  They have also been featured at the Aspen Music Festival and Trasimeno Music Festival, among others, as well as on CBC Radio Two and Vermont Public Radio.  Highlights of 2016 include debut recitals at the Pro Musica Series, the Friends of Port Hope Series, and the Leith Music Festival, as well as a 13-city tour in China, and a two-week tour in Atlantic Canada as Debut Atlantic artists. Cheng² Duo’s debut album Violoncelle Français was released on the German classical label audite.
